Helping to Build a Stronger Community

If you require regular prescriptions, details of your repeat medication are on your computerised medical record.  You are advised to give at least 48 hours notice when ordering repeat prescriptions to allow for your prescription to be printed and signed. The pharmacy you have chosen to use may also need a further 24 hours to issue your prescription.

Please help staff to help you by re-ordering your prescription online from your most recent repeat slip.

To save a visit to the surgery to collect your prescription you must nominate one of the 6 local chemists who provide a collection service.  To nominate a chemist complete a simple form and thereafter your prescription may be collected, already complete, from your chosen chemist.

This service is provided by:

Boots - Newton Aycliffe
Cobblers Hall Pharmacy - Woodham
Lloyds pharmacy - on site / attached to surgery
Bewick Pharmacy
Neville Pharmacy
Tesco - Newton Aycliffe

All prescriptions are now sent directly to the chemist electronically.

How to Request a Repeat Prescription

If you require regular prescriptions details will be kept on our computer. You are able to request repeat prescriptions from this list of regular medicines by any of the following methods:

  • By using our Internet Repeat Prescriptions Ordering Service.

  • By telephoning the surgery after 10am (01325 528 000). If you are housebound or elderly you will be directed to speak to a Receptionist to place your order.

  • By handing in the repeat request slip at the surgery at any time.

You are advised to allow at least 48 hours notice when ordering repeat prescriptions to allow for the script to be issued. Your nominated pharmacy may also need a further 24 hours to process your prescription. Sometimes you may be asked to see a doctor before a repeat prescription can be issued. This is routine and very important for your health and safety. Do not delay in arranging an appointment.

You must not try to order repeat prescriptions too early as this is carefully monitored and a script will not be issued. If the need is for a holiday, or other travel, we can make an occasional exception.

New Electronic Prescribing Service

All prescriptions are now sent electronically saving time and unnecessary journeys to and from the surgery. These videos explain how the system works:

Prescriptions for the Elderly and Housebound
For those Elderly & Housebound patients who may prefer to speak with a member of staff we will accept their calls.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing

Our practice is collaborating with NHS  Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) who is providing NHS numbers for those patients that maybe suitable for electronic repeat dispensing prescriptions. The information is obtained from NHS prescriptions submitted to the NHSBSA.
